Media Study Tours – Opening a Dialogue with Policymakers, Experts and Practitioners

Candidates interested in applying to participate in the three-day Media Study Tours are invited to take note of the following eligibility criteria and selection process before submitting their application.

 

Who can participate?

The Media Study Tours are open to journalists from Central and Eastern Europe who have an interest or track-record in reporting on energy, climate and environmental topics, and who comply with the following eligibility criteria:

  • Complete set of application documents submitted before the deadline (online application form, CV)
  • Currently working as a journalist or in a comparable field (journalism, (social) media, broadcasting) for an established news medium with a verifiable public reach in one of the following countries: Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia
  • If you’re a journalist from another European country, feel free to apply. While priority will be given to journalists from the above listed countries, any free places will be made available to journalists from other European countries respectively non-European countries from Central and Eastern Europe. as we will also take your application into consideration if enough places are available.
  • Professional track record or proven interest in climate action and energy policies (writing samples, preferably accessible via web links, are an asset)
  • English language skills
  • Regular internet access

Please note: If you’re a journalist from another European country, feel free to apply. While priority will be given to journalists from the above listed countries, any free places will be made available to journalists from other European countries respectively non-EU countries from Central and Eastern Europe.

 

How to apply?

If you would like to participate, you can sign up on this website by clicking on "Apply now" . All application documents need to be submitted before 25 August 2017 (extended deadline). Please note that journalists meeting the eligibility criteria may apply for a maximum of two media study tours.

Successful candidates will be contacted by 28 August 2017 and provided with a detailed preliminary agenda for the respective study tour.

 

What are the costs?

Participation in the media study tours is free of charge. Accommodation and travel expenses during the tour will be covered by the organisers. During the tour, meals and refreshments, including breakfast and lunch, will be provided, but participants are expected to pay for dinner themselves.

Please note: Participants must cover their own expenses for travel to and from Germany (respective city where the study tour will begin and end). If justified, in individual cases we can provide support for travel expenses upon request.

 

What about travel arrangements?

Travel during the study tour will be organised by adelphi. Participants are kindly asked to organise their own travel to and from Germany (respective city where the media study tour will begin and end).

What languages will be spoken?

Presentations during the Media Study Tour will either be in English or German. When German is spoken, German-English simultaneous interpretation will be provided. In exceptional cases, interpretation into one of the languages of the participating countries can be arranged. Please indicate any interpretation requirements in the application form.

 

What will the programme look like in detail?

A detailed itinerary for each Media Study Tour will be shared with successful applicants in good time.
